“"Leaking marks on walls"”was first seen on the book "Comments of Shi Huaisu and Yan Zhengqing on cursive scripts " by Lu Yu in Tang Dynasty,which means natural twisting and turning traces of raindrops on broken walls, moreover this aesthetic concept of respect for natural is regarded as a model of painting and calligraphy creation by posterity after date.

 

The predecessors’ experience is not unprofitable withered flowers or outdated platitudes regardless of whether its performance is form of works or theoretical style. On the contrary, it is often the lighthouse that clears up fog in front. “ As the theme of this exhibition, "Leaking marks on walls" ”is a basis point for breaking down and exceeding artistic boundaries and creation of a new visual form, by which artists can look back from current experience to tradition, and take it as a cut point and methodology for art discussion.““I hope nothing but maintaining reasonable and independent feelings on my own within all traditional knowledge.””。

 

There are totally 21 artists participating in this exhibition, most of them were born in 1970s. With the academic background, they have received nourishment from classic painting and rigorous and systematic technique training; nonetheless they have showed a strong sense of innovation in creation, and expressed unique ideas of their own in concept, material and expression technique of painting, also demonstrated positive meaning and wisdom in value orientation for inheriting and variation of predecessors’ experience. In this way, they have shown great promise among contemporary art field. We hope that this exhibition could provide a new text for exploration of contemporary art.
